That's what I'm working on. Collecting the first item makes the guardians' mouths start moving, so I'm guessing that accessing the room from the right and collecting the rightmost item causes them to move vertically, allowing access to the middle items. I can't see how to get into this room from the right though. |

vegasrudeboy, here's a clue: grab a beer and I'll tell you how to get to the other side of Into The Depths. |

Um... not much of a clue there mate. I'm thinking it's perhaps a reference to cleaning out the Off Licence first?
Other than that, what are the tricks for the other hidden rooms? |

I've gone over The Off Licence with a fine-toothed comb: there doesn't seem to be anything hidden in there. |

I tried hanging around at The Yacht since the map seems to refer to something happening after dark... nada. |

OK, I'll tell you. You're both right that it's the Off Licence. Stand between the two vertical guardians and jump straight up. Matt has rather sadistically put an invisible (or black) platform there. From there, jump left, then right etc.
In The Yacht, enter via the bottom right (climbing off the rope in The Beach onto the sand) and jump through the wall, you can then drop down through a hole in the floor to the left, entering Rope of Doom. |

Ah, the old invisible Water-cells trick. I actually thought of that after I posted my last message - it's what I would do (although I have eschewed the practice in my own JSW games to date, with the exception of rooms that are predominantly invisible). But I didn't think it was worth bothering to go back to The Off Licence and check for invisible cells, until now.
It goes to show the level of thoroughness with which I must explore the other rooms when I have time to do so!
It was quite unnerving to have the priests chase me around "Into The Depths" after collecting the items, since I'm so used to dealing with predefined guardian-paths!

...so I got the Giant Heads of Doom to move down Into The Depths. Aieee that's disconcerting. |

Hi all, how I can solve Crikey! and Back Entrance?
I dont find any other secret entrance..
PS.
Great Job with this game. I played at the Italian version with my spectrum, named "La casa di Jack". I never finish the game (my version are plenty of bugs!). |

Hi Dr Broad
Yes, their movement surprised me too. There's very little margin for error for squeezing past them to escape. I've found that a vertical jump at the top of the stairs at the last moment before running buys a valuable few pixel's head start. What's a Water-cell?
Hi Vegas
Can do. How do I record my playing as a video? I'm a video-recording virgin.

Hi sc
FInd a room whose initials are yours backwards and go over it, as Andrew would say, "with a fine-toothed comb". |

A Water-cell is a cell that you can stand on, walk through, or jump (upwards) through, but not fall through (unless you're also standing on a Fire-cell or a Trap-cell).

Is a trap-cell one of the crumbly/quicksand cells that exist in MM but not JSW? And what's a fire cell? Are they used in the conveyor belt platforms? And what do you call the cells that you can't penetrate (i.e. walls and certain platforms)?
Sorry for bombarding you with questions. |

A Fire-cell is a cell that kills you if you touch it or stand on it - even if you're also standing on a type of cell that you wouldn't normally fall through.

No - a Trap-cell is a cell that you fall through even if you're also standing on a type of cell that you wouldn't normally fall through. Trap-cells don't feature in the original MM/JSW, but those Spectrum game-engines can be POKEd to make all Fire-cells behave as Trap-cells (since a Trap-cell is simply a Fire-cell that doesn't kill you), and Spectrum MM can even be POKEd to make all Fire-2 cells behave as Trap-cells (while Fire-1 cells still behave as Fire). Also, John Elliott's JSW64 game-engine supports Trap-cells as a cell-type, allowing them to be mixed freely with Fire-cells or any other types of cell.
And what do you call the cells that you can't penetrate (i.e. walls and certain platforms)?
Earth-cells. And it is possible (at least in Spectrum MM/JSW) to penetrate them by jumping into them so as to land exactly on the corners!

The secret rooms through the loo - is there any mileage in them or does it just lead to death?
Thanks for the tips by the way - I shall investigate the yacht and off licence now. Already gone upwards of the bathroom and really struggled with some of the items there! My 85 on the leaderboard includes 2 items found in a room between two others (don't want to give it away) - it's in the upper west part of the house, shall we say. |
